Issue - January 2012

NOTE FROM STACY

Welcome 2012! It's another year and a new opportunity for each of us to set fresh goals and refocus on our dreams.

I personally think this is an exciting time of the year. I find that it is fun and very motivating for me to write my large goals down, but honestly, I sometimes find it can also be paralyzing because the goals are large and the lists are long. While it is extremely important to visualize that big dream or goal, if I take the time to break the large goals down into several mini deadlines they become more manageable and help me get started which is the most important step in reaching any goal. And, if truth be told, when I accomplish each one of my smaller deadlines I get to take a bright pink pen and cross it off my list which feels pretty good!

How about you? What bold dreams do you have for 2012?

My best to you, Stacy

SEVEN SIMPLE TIPS TO END PROCRASTINATION

1. Make your dreams big and bold. Dreams are motivators.

2. Get clear and be specific about your dreams, right down to the smallest, juiciest detail.

3. Develop a plan. Take the big picture and break it down into smaller, more manageable steps.

4. Develop systems. Make a list of what frustrates you the most and develop systems to break through the frustration and stress.

5. Acquire confidence and maintain discipline to end procrastination.

6. Develop accountability, which is critical to your success. Recruit accountability partners who will hold you responsible for meeting your goals.

7. Don’t be afraid to fail. If you wait for things to be perfect before you act, you will wait forever. Go ahead and make mistakes, then learn from them; they will be your ticket to success.

RECIPE

Glazed Nuts
Courtesy of Martha Stewart Living

Ingredients:
10 ounces whole shelled almonds
1/4 cup reduced-sodium tamari
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
nonstick cooking spray

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread almonds in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake until lightly toasted and fragrant, 7 to 8 minutes.
In a medium bowl, combine tamari and maple syrup. Add almonds, and toss until thoroughly coated. Lightly cover the baking sheet with cooking spray, and spread almonds evenly on sheet.
Roast in oven until deep brown, stirring once, 15 to 17 minutes. Immediately transfer to a clean baking sheet, and spread out almonds, separating so nuts don't touch. Let cool before serving.
